A three-leaved pine native to Monterey, California, on the hilly South West coast. It grows extremely rapidly, has dense foliage, a spreading habit and ability to withstand exposure to strong sea winds. It is very much used for shelter belts and ornamental planting, especially in the warmer maritime counties of Britain.
